New seats for muskrat management boats
On behalf of our client, EBLO visited the Brabantse Biesbosch, the Netherlands, where 12 boats go out on the water every day to manage muskrats. The Brabantse Biesbosch forms the largest part of the Biesbosch, which also includes the Hollandse Biesbosch. The Brabantse Biesbosch is owned by Staatsbosbeheer; the largest forest and nature conservation organisation in the Netherlands.

Muskrats are a risk to dams and to nature because they make long burrows and deep holes. The national strategy is to reduce muskrats to the national borders. Our customer works at the Jachthaven Brabantse Biesbosch, the Netherlands, and was looking for new seats for his boats.

"After 15 years of having good seats, the current ones are worn out and in need of replacement. Through the website of EBLO I came into contact with Evert Mallie and we made an appointment. At the showroom of EBLO, we looked together for a new, quality seat, which is also affordable. Before ordering the seats, we wanted to be sure that we would also be pleased with them. We therefore tested several seats by means of test-sitting. We placed the seats in our boats and tested them extensively. Eventually we chose the UnitedSeats Top35. We were very pleased with the quality of the seats and after the test sitting we made the purchase, says a satisfied customer."

The customer was looking for a simple seat that could withstand the weather conditions it has to deal with on a daily basis. "The seat is almost always outside and has to be weatherproof. We also wanted a seat without stitching. Stitching is complex and never watertight."

The boats on which we work every day have different drivers. Many different drivers mean many different wishes:
With or without armrests; drivers who spend a lot of time on the boat and travel for long distances like to have armrests so that they can support their arms from time to time. Whereas armrests for other drivers only get in the way, because they make many (sudden) movements and therefore get stuck behind the armrests;
A comfortable seat; drivers sometimes work long days and sail for hours at a time. A comfortable seat is therefore a must for many drivers, so that after hours of sitting in the same position, they do not get a sore back while sailing.

In addition, the drivers had a number of other requirements:
Weight; a seat must not be too heavy. The seat must be easy to transfer to another boat. In addition, a seat that is too heavy would reduce the speed of the boat in the water;
The height of the seat is very decisive. The height of the seat may not be higher than the engine. "We often sail under low bridges, the engine can just pass under there. Therefore, the seat should not be higher than the engine, so that we can move quickly," the customer said."

After picking up the 4 seats, the customer installed them himself and is very satisfied with the purchase. "The new model is a great success. After using it in practice, we decided to fit the other boats with a new seat as well."
A word:
Together with the client, we chose the UnitedSeats Top35. The advantage of this seat is that the cushion can also be replaced separately. Should there be any damage to the seat in the future, it is not necessary to buy the whole seat again, but it is sufficient to replace the seat or back cushion.
We also chose this seat because it is foldable. This means that it can be folded up when needed and it is always lower than the engine in terms of height, which is a great advantage when sailing under low bridges.
