EBLO opens doors for primary school pupils

To interest group 7 pupils in a technical education, the Dutch ‘Techniekspelen’ were organised. The Techniekspelen is a regional initiative in which the business community and education join forces to promote technique. Group 7 pupils visit companies in the region to get to know what it is like in practice. On Friday 20 May, EBLO held an open house for pupils of De Steenen Kamer special-needs primary school and De Dolfijn public primary school.

After a short introduction about EBLO by Hennie and Jan Willem, the children were eager to see what happens behind the scenes at a wholesaler, where technical work plays a major role. First up was the showroom with boat seats and agricultural seats. All the seats could be tried out and there were plenty of different questions. With the most important question being why these comfortable seats are not in their classrooms. After that, it was a joy to try out the air suspension ISRI truck seats in the next showroom.

Via the large warehouse, the kids arrived at the assembly department, where the technical work takes place. The workbenches and various tools were visibly interesting to the pupils. After that, there was still time for the kids to climb into our forklift cabin one by one and have their picture taken.

The last part of the tour was to try out the showroom with Racetech racing seats and the various UnitedSeats seats. The racing seats were particularly interesting for the children.

Finally, all children were given a drink and some sweets in the canteen, after which they were well rested and went on to visit the next technical company.
For EBLO and the children it were a couple of successful hours. With the look behind the scenes we are glad that we were able to enthuse the children to possibly choose for a technical profession later on. A number of children already mentioned they would like to come and work at EBLO in the future. Who knows, we might see them again in a few years!
